Free Gam-Anon Gambling Family Peer Support — Nationwide

Gam-Anon is the 12-step fellowship for men and women whose lives have been affected by another person’s compulsive gambling. Founded in 1960, Gam-Anon offers free peer support, structured recovery, and community for spouses, partners, parents, adult children, and friends of compulsive gamblers.

What to Expect

Confidential one-hour meetings built around the 12 steps adapted for families of compulsive gamblers. Members share their experience — the lies, the broken trust, the financial wreckage, the slow rebuilding — without giving advice or trying to fix the gambler in their life. The focus is on the family member’s own recovery from the effects of someone else’s gambling.

Meeting Formats

In-person meetings across the US and Canada, listed by state and province in the Gam-Anon meeting directory. Virtual meetings via Zoom and other platforms — listed separately in the Virtual Meetings Directory. International meetings available for members outside North America.

Who This Group Is For

Anyone whose life has been affected by someone else’s compulsive gambling — sports betting, casino gambling, online gambling, lottery, day trading, or any other form. The gambler doesn’t have to be a current or former GA member for the family to attend Gam-Anon.

Why Peer Support Works

Gambling addiction is often hidden longer than substance addiction, which means family members carry years of unprocessed financial and emotional trauma. Gam-Anon connects you with people who understand the specific shape of that wound and offers a structured path forward.
