Pathways Trauma & Recovery Center — Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program (Portland, OR)
About This Group
The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program at Pathways Trauma & Recovery Center is an 8-week evidence-based program that teaches mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga as tools for managing stress, chronic pain, anxiety, and the lasting effects of trauma. Pathways’ MBSR facilitators are trained in both traditional MBSR methodology and trauma-sensitive mindfulness, making this program uniquely suited for people who carry stress in their bodies and want a holistic path to healing.
What to Expect
The 8-week program meets weekly for 2-hour sessions plus one extended weekend session (Day of Mindfulness). Participants learn core mindfulness practices including body scan meditation, sitting meditation, mindful movement (gentle yoga), and walking meditation. Each session includes guided practice, discussion of home practice experiences, and psychoeducation on the science of stress, pain, and mindfulness. Participants receive a workbook and audio recordings for daily home practice. Pathways’ trauma-sensitive approach means that all practices are offered with modifications and choice, ensuring that mindfulness feels safe rather than overwhelming.
Who It’s For
Adults (18+) experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, chronic pain, burnout, or the physical effects of trauma. No prior meditation or yoga experience is required. This program is appropriate for people at any stage of their healing journey.
